On 25 June 2022, the ruins of the medieval town of Cerven hosted the first "Festival of Ritual Bread", organised by the Ruse Regional Historical Museum.

The event, which was held for the first time and had a competitive character, told about the traditional culture of the local population called "Chrzoi" and aimed to impart knowledge and demonstrate ritual practices for making ritual bread - part of the local heritage. Wedding breads, ritual Christmas breads, Enyodenska samodivska grazcha, ritual bread for St. George's Day, for Trifon Zarezan, ritual bread for the white harvest (for a rich harvest), soda cakes, grazcha with freshly made sourdough for the local midsummer season, cowai made from the first milled flour of the new harvest were presented.

Dozens of institutions participated in the festival - community centres, pensioners' clubs as well as children from a social home who demonstrated various culinary techniques and skills in making delicious ritual bread.

The event was accompanied by a folklore programme with performances by amateur artists, individual performers and an orchestra.
